The 280 Sun Sport from Sea Ray offers some difficult choices. Difficult, because there are so many, it's hard to decide. Besides the popular standard cockpit layout, there's a fishing package that includes an aft bench seat, helm seat with storage base, live baitwell and prep center, four rod holders, and tubular arch with rocket launchers. Then there's the sport package, with chrome through-hull fittings, fiberglass sport spoiler, premier stereo, and two-tone gelcoated graphics. No matter which package is chosen, the 280 Sun Sport features a comfortable cabin that was redesigned for the 2000 model year to provide more headroom, a wider V-berth, and a new galley countertop with sink and standard dual-voltage refrigerator. The V-berth sets up easily for dining with a stowable table, and bunking down is just as easy. Simply remove the table, insert the filler cushions and relax. To port, the entertainment center with cooler and glass rack is ideal for serving extra guests. The enclosed head features all fiberglass construction with sink, vanity, pullout shower, and standard VacuFlush head with holding tank. A standard carbon monoxide monitor helps everyone feel safer when on board. Above, the cockpit is also efficient with a self-bailing fiberglass liner, molded dash with full instrumentation, high water bilge pump and alarm at the helm, standard depth finder and compass, plus an electrically actuated engine hatch for easy access. But even with all that function, form still remains a priority. Attractive wood accents highlight the dash along with a classic Italian mahogany tilt steering wheel for an extra touch of class.
